Gail Devers

Gail Devers, born November 19, 1966, in Seattle, Washington, is an American track and field athlete celebrated for her achievements in sprinting and hurdling. Devers won gold medals in the 100 meters at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In addition, she secured a gold medal in the 4x100 meters relay at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Her remarkable career includes three World Championship titles in the 100 meters hurdles, clinching the top spot in 1993, 1995, and 1999. Devers’ resilience is notable; she overcame Graves' disease early in her career, which nearly led to the amputation of her feet. Her victory in the 100 meters at the 1992 Olympics, just a year after her recovery, remains a defining moment in her career.
