Will Rogers (November 4, 1879 – August 15, 1935) was an American cowboy, humorist, and social commentator. He gained widespread fame for his vaudeville performances and became a national figure through his syndicated newspaper columns and radio broadcasts in the 1920s and 1930s. Rogers starred in 71 films, including "A Connecticut Yankee" (1931) and "State Fair" (1933), and wrote over 4,000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns.
In 1928, he was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Oklahoma. Rogers was a vocal advocate for aviation, contributing to its popularization through his writings and personal interest. Tragically, he died in an airplane crash near Point Barrow, Alaska Territory, in 1935. less
