Amelia Earhart

Amelia Earhart, an American aviator, made history as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932. Born on July 24, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas, she became a symbol of courage and adventure in the early 20th century. Earhart's solo transatlantic flight from Newfoundland to Ireland took approximately 15 hours, earning her the Distinguished Flying Cross. In 1935, she also became the first person to fly solo from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Oakland, California. On July 2, 1937, during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe, Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean. Despite extensive searches, neither she nor her aircraft was ever found, solidifying her place in aviation history.
