George S Patton

George S. Patton (1885-1945) was a prominent United States Army general during World War II. He commanded the U.S. Seventh Army in the Mediterranean theater and later the U.S. Third Army in France and Germany following the Allied invasion of Normandy. Born on November 11, 1885, Patton graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1909. Patton's leadership in the North African Campaign led to the defeat of German forces in Tunisia in 1943. In 1944, he played a crucial role in the liberation of France, particularly noted for his rapid armored advance across Europe. His aggressive tactics and bold maneuvers earned him the nickname "Old Blood and Guts." Patton died on December 21, 1945, following a car accident in Germany.
