Immanuel Kant

Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) was a pivotal figure in modern philosophy, best known for his works "Critique of Pure Reason" (1781) and "Critique of Practical Reason" (1788). These texts laid the foundations for his theory of transcendental idealism, which revolutionized epistemology and metaphysics. Born in Königsberg, Prussia, Kant spent his entire life there, teaching at the University of Königsberg. His "Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals" (1785) established his moral philosophy, introducing the concept of the categorical imperative. Kant's rigorous approach to ethics and his critical examinations of reason and experience set him apart from his predecessors and contemporaries.
