Michael Fassbender, born April 2, 1977, is an acclaimed Irish-German actor. He gained significant recognition for his role as IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands in "Hunger" (2008), directed by Steve McQueen. His portrayal earned him the British Independent Film Award for Best Actor. Fassbender is also widely known for his role as the young Magneto in the "X-Men" film series, beginning with "X-Men: First Class" (2011).
