Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, served from 1993 to 2001. Born on August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas, Clinton previously held the office of Governor of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1992. He is most noted for overseeing the longest peacetime economic expansion in American history. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was signed into law during his administration in 1993, aiming to eliminate trade barriers between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Clinton also enacted the Welfare Reform Act in 1996, shifting welfare programs towards work requirements. His presidency witnessed a budget surplus, the first in several decades, achieved in 1998.
