Chris Hughes

Chris Hughes, born November 26, 1983, co-founded Facebook alongside Mark Zuckerberg and others during their time at Harvard University in 2004. He later served as the website’s spokesperson and played a pivotal role in shaping its early user experience. In 2007, Hughes left Facebook to spearhead Barack Obama's digital campaign strategy during the 2008 presidential election, where he successfully leveraged social media and technology to mobilize voters. In 2012, Hughes purchased a majority stake in The New Republic, aiming to revitalize the storied magazine, and served as its publisher and editor-in-chief. He has also been an outspoken advocate for economic justice, co-founding the Economic Security Project in 2016 to explore and promote the concept of guaranteed income in the United States.
