Joe Namath

Joe Namath, born May 31, 1943, is an iconic American football quarterback. He achieved legendary status in the NFL, particularly with the New York Jets. Namath is best remembered for his bold guarantee of victory in Super Bowl III, which he delivered on January 12, 1969, against the Baltimore Colts. He backed up his guarantee by leading the Jets to a 16-7 win, earning the game’s MVP title. Namath's career highlights also include his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. Over his 13-season career, he threw for over 27,000 yards and 173 touchdowns. He was the first quarterback to pass for 4,000 yards in a single season, achieving this milestone in 1967.
