However, the specific expanded wording here — adding "beliefs become thoughts" and "thoughts become words" — is not the Reade line, and the earliest exact printed matches we can locate for this eight-line version appear only in 21st-century self-help books (for example, Carol Crockett's Watch Your Words, 2023, which reproduces it verbatim under Gandhi's name), meaning no single competing author can be cleanly named as the true source of this exact text.
