Mark Twain

Mark Twain, born Samuel Langhorne Clemens on November 30, 1835, gained fame as a leading American writer and humorist. He authored "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (1876) and its sequel, "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" (1884). Twain's sharp wit and keen observation of human nature distinguished his works. He began his career as a riverboat pilot, which influenced his pen name and many of his writings. In 1865, his short story "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" brought him national attention. Twain's lectures and public speeches also contributed to his popularity. He died on April 21, 1910, leaving behind a rich legacy of classic American literature.
