Paul Allen

Paul Allen (January 21, 1953 – October 15, 2018) co-founded Microsoft Corporation with Bill Gates in 1975, fundamentally changing the landscape of personal computing. He played a crucial role in developing the company’s early software, including the first version of the Windows operating system. In 1983, Allen left Microsoft after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma but remained on the board until 2000. Beyond Microsoft, Allen made significant contributions to various fields. He founded Vulcan Inc. in 1986, managing his diverse business and philanthropic efforts. In 2004, he established the Allen Institute for Brain Science, advancing neuroscience research. Allen also owned the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers, impacting professional sports. He passed away from complications of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 65.
