Primo Levi

Primo Levi (1919-1987) was an Italian Jewish chemist, writer, and Holocaust survivor. He is best known for his memoir "If This Is a Man" (1947), which recounts his harrowing experiences in the Auschwitz concentration camp. Levi was born in Turin, Italy, and pursued a degree in chemistry from the University of Turin, graduating in 1941. His notable works include "The Periodic Table" (1975), a collection of short stories that intertwine his knowledge of chemistry with his personal history. This book was named the best science book ever by the Royal Institution of Great Britain in 2006. Another significant work is "The Truce" (1963), which describes his journey home after the liberation of Auschwitz. Levi continued to write extensively about the Holocaust and his experiences up until his death.
