Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was an Indian polymath celebrated for his contributions to literature, music, and art. Born in Calcutta, he was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for his collection of poems, "Gitanjali." His other notable works include the play "Rakta Karabi" and the novel "Gora." Tagore also composed the national anthems of India and Bangladesh, "Jana Gana Mana" and "Amar Shonar Bangla," respectively. He founded the Visva-Bharati University in 1921, promoting a blend of Eastern and Western educational philosophies. Tagore's pioneering work in transforming Indian literature and music earned him the title "Bard of Bengal."
