Samuel Beckett

Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) was an Irish avant-garde novelist, playwright, theatre director, and poet, best known for his play "Waiting for Godot" (1953). Born in Dublin, Beckett studied at Trinity College before moving to Paris, where he would spend much of his life. "Waiting for Godot" remains one of the most significant plays of the 20th century, characterized by its sparse setting and exploration of existential themes. His other notable works include the novel "Molloy" (1951) and the play "Endgame" (1957). Beckett received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1969 for his writing, which in new forms for the novel and drama, takes its place among the classics of modern literature. He died in Paris on December 22, 1989.
