Thomas Sowell

Thomas Sowell, born June 30, 1930, is an American economist, social theorist, and senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He has authored over 30 books, with "Basic Economics" and "A Conflict of Visions" standing out as seminal works. Sowell earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago in 1968. Throughout his career, he has challenged prevailing economic and social theories, particularly through his critical analysis of government policies and affirmative action. In 2002, he received the National Humanities Medal for his contributions to the understanding of economics and social policy.
