Adam Sandler, born on September 9, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. He gained prominence as a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" from 1990 to 1995. Sandler's film career skyrocketed with the release of "Billy Madison" (1995) and "Happy Gilmore" (1996), establishing him as a leading figure in comedy. He demonstrated his versatility with critically acclaimed performances in "Punch-Drunk Love" (2002) and "Uncut Gems" (2019), the latter earning him the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.
