“You can only be afraid of what you think.”
— Alan Watts
Simplified Meaning:
When you feel scared, it’s because of the thoughts you have in your mind. For example, if you think about monsters under your bed, you'll feel afraid even if there are no monsters there. It's your thoughts that create the fear, not the actual situation. If you think positively, you will feel less fear. Imagine a student who is scared of failing an exam. This student worries all the time, thinking about what could go wrong. But if they change their thoughts to remind themselves of how they studied and how much they know, their fear gets smaller. So, by controlling what you think, you can feel less afraid and more confident.
