Alberto Moravia

Alberto Moravia (November 28, 1907 – September 26, 1990) was an Italian novelist and journalist, celebrated for his vivid portrayal of 20th-century social and political issues. His acclaimed novel "Gli indifferenti" (The Time of Indifference) published in 1929, examined the moral decay of Italian bourgeoisie. Moravia's 1957 novel "La ciociara" (Two Women) won the Viareggio Prize and was adapted into a film starring Sophia Loren. During the 1950s and 60s, he explored existential themes in works like "Il conformista" (The Conformist), later adapted into a renowned film by Bernardo Bertolucci. Moravia served as a foreign correspondent and was a regular contributor to the Italian newspaper "Corriere della Sera." He was a prominent figure in Italian literature until his death in Rome.
