Biography
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716) was a German polymath who made significant contributions to mathematics, philosophy, and science. He co-invented calculus independently of Isaac Newton, publishing his method of infinitesimal calculus in 1684. Leibniz also developed the binary number system, crucial for the foundation of modern computing.
In philosophy, he is best known for his works "Monadology" (1714), where he proposed that the universe is composed of simple substances known as monads. Additionally, his "Discourse on Metaphysics" (1686) articulated his ideas on the nature of reality, free will, and God's role in the universe. Leibniz's diverse intellectual pursuits and prolific writings have left a lasting mark on multiple fields of study.
