Helen Keller

Helen Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968) was an American author, disability rights advocate, and lecturer. At 19 months old, she became deaf and blind due to an illness. With the help of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, Keller learned to communicate using the manual alphabet and later graduated from Radcliffe College in 1904, becoming the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Keller authored 14 books, including her autobiography "The Story of My Life" (1903), which details her early life and education. She co-founded the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in 1920 and actively campaigned for women's suffrage, labor rights, and world peace. Keller's accomplishments garnered numerous accolades, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1964.
