Heraclitus

Heraclitus of Ephesus, an ancient Greek philosopher, lived around 535-475 BCE. He is best known for his doctrine of change being central to the universe, encapsulated in the phrase "Panta Rhei" or "everything flows." Heraclitus authored "On Nature," a work where he introduced the concept of the unity of opposites, asserting that conflict and strife are essential for harmony. He also emphasized the role of fire as the fundamental element of the universe, symbolizing constant change and transformation. Heraclitus' profound and often enigmatic statements earned him the nickname "The Obscure" among later philosophers. His insights laid early foundations for the development of dialectical thinking.
