Ronald Reagan

Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) served as the 40th President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Prior to his presidency, he was the Governor of California from 1967 to 1975. Reagan is perhaps most recognized for his economic policies, dubbed "Reaganomics," which aimed to reduce government spending, taxation, and regulation. In 1987, he famously challenged Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall," a significant moment in the eventual end of the Cold War. Additionally, Reagan survived an assassination attempt in 1981, which bolstered his public image and resolve. His administration also saw the signing of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in 1987, which helped de-escalate U.S.-Soviet tensions.
