Steven Pressfield, born on September 1, 1943, is an American author best known for his historical fiction and non-fiction works. His novel "Gates of Fire" (1998), which vividly recounts the Battle of Thermopylae, remains a seminal work in historical literature. Another notable work is "The Legend of Bagger Vance" (1995), which was adapted into a film directed by Robert Redford.
