Susan B Anthony

Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) was a pioneering American social reformer and women's rights activist. She played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement. In 1872, she was arrested for voting illegally in the presidential election, an act that drew national attention to the suffrage cause. Alongside Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Anthony co-founded the National Woman Suffrage Association in 1869. She also campaigned against slavery and for temperance. Notably, she delivered the "Declaration of Rights" speech at the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. Anthony's tireless efforts were instrumental in the eventual passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which granted women the right to vote.
