Will Durant

Will Durant (1885-1981) was an American writer, historian, and philosopher, best known for his monumental work, "The Story of Civilization," an 11-volume series co-written with his wife, Ariel Durant. The series, published between 1935 and 1975, offers a comprehensive history of humanity from ancient to modern times. In 1968, Durant received the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction for "Rousseau and Revolution," the tenth volume of the series. Additionally, in 1977, he and Ariel were awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, recognizing their contributions to literature and education. His earlier work, "The Story of Philosophy" (1926), brought philosophy to the masses, significantly influencing public understanding of the subject.
