Biography
Allen Saunders (1899-1986) was an American writer and cartoonist, best known for his work on comic strips. He co-created "Mary Worth," a popular soap opera-style comic strip, which debuted in 1938 and ran for decades. Saunders also penned the adventure strip "Steve Roper and Mike Nomad," beginning in 1936. His writing was characterized by well-developed characters and intricate plots. In 1957, Saunders coined the famous aphorism, "Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans," which appeared in a comic strip. His distinctive narrative style and memorable phrases set his work apart in the world of comics. Saunders passed away in 1986, leaving behind a significant body of work in American comics.
