Chinua Achebe

Chinua Achebe (November 16, 1930 – March 21, 2013) was a Nigerian novelist, poet, and critic, best known for his novel "Things Fall Apart" (1958). This seminal work is a powerful narrative about the clash between traditional African society and the forces of colonialism. Achebe was born in Ogidi, Nigeria, and was a prominent figure in African literature. In 1966, he published "A Man of the People," a novel that explores post-colonial African politics. He also co-founded the influential literary magazine "Okike" in 1971, which provided a platform for African writers. Achebe served as a professor at Brown University, furthering his contributions to literature and education. His impact on African literature earned him the Man Booker International Prize in 2007.
