George Orwell

George Orwell, born Eric Arthur Blair on June 25, 1903, in Motihari, India, is best known for his novels "1984" and "Animal Farm." These works explore themes of totalitarianism and social injustice. "1984," published in 1949, presents a dystopian future under a repressive regime, while "Animal Farm" from 1945 is an allegorical novella critiquing Soviet communism. Orwell also penned numerous essays, including "Shooting an Elephant" and "Politics and the English Language," which examine colonialism and the use of language in politics. His first major work, "Down and Out in Paris and London" (1933), details his experiences of poverty. Orwell died on January 21, 1950, in London.
