Editorial Note
This line is genuinely and consistently credited to Jimmy Buffett, and the sentiment is pure Buffett — the beach-bum balladeer who built a career, and a business empire, on tropical escapism and who once told graduates simply to "go see the world." But no primary source we could locate carries these exact words: they do not appear in his minor or out-of-print books, in any published collection of his letters (none exists; his correspondence survives mainly in the unpublished Jimmy Buffett Papers at the University of Florida), or in reprints and transcripts of his speeches, including his well-documented 2015 University of Miami commencement address. Where the quote circulates, it is almost always phrased "I'm sure it has a beach attached," not the "attached to a beach" wording submitted here, and it surfaces only on quotation-aggregator sites rather than in anything traceable to Buffett himself. We found no rival claimant and nothing to suggest the words are anyone else's. On that basis we mark it attributed: a saying long and comfortably associated with Buffett, but without a confirmed original source or date.
