His autobiography, "The Autobiography of Malcolm X," co-written with Alex Haley and published posthumously in 1965, is celebrated for its powerful narrative of his transformation and activism. In 1964, he founded the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU) after breaking away from the Nation of Islam.
