Malcolm X

Malcolm X (1925–1965), born Malcolm Little, was an influential African American leader and prominent figure in the Nation of Islam. He is best known for his advocacy for the rights of Black Americans. In 1952, he officially joined the Nation of Islam and quickly rose to prominence, becoming the minister of Temple No. 7 in Harlem. His autobiography, "The Autobiography of Malcolm X," co-written with Alex Haley and published posthumously in 1965, is celebrated for its powerful narrative of his transformation and activism. In 1964, he founded the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU) after breaking away from the Nation of Islam. Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965, at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City.
