Sarah Margaret Fuller (1810-1850) was a prominent American journalist, editor, and women's rights advocate. She is best known for her book "Woman in the Nineteenth Century" (1845), which is considered a foundational work in American feminist literature. Fuller played a pivotal role in the transcendentalist movement as the editor of "The Dial," a leading transcendentalist publication, from 1840 to 1842.
In 1844, she became the first female foreign correspondent for the New York Tribune, reporting from Europe on revolutionary activities. Fuller also held "Conversations" for women in Boston, discussing literature, education, and women's rights. She tragically died in a shipwreck off Fire Island, New York, in 1850. less
