Thich Nhat Hanh

Thich Nhat Hanh (1926-2022) was a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, peace activist, and prolific author. He founded the Unified Buddhist Church, the Van Hanh Buddhist University in Saigon, and the Order of Interbeing. In 1967, Martin Luther King Jr. nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to promote peace during the Vietnam War. Thich Nhat Hanh authored over 100 books, with "The Miracle of Mindfulness" (1975) and "Peace Is Every Step" (1991) being among his most influential works. He also established Plum Village, a mindfulness practice center in France, which has become a global hub for mindfulness practice. In 2018, he returned to Vietnam to live his final years at the Tu Hieu Temple.
