The phrasing ("our darkest moments," "focus to see the light") reads as modern motivational English rather than the systematic, argumentative prose of Aristotle's genuine work, which makes an authentic classical origin unlikely. Reviewing where the line actually appears, we found it only in recent inspirational compilations and journals — for example *You Are Not Alone* by Tracilyn George (2023) and *The Intentional Being* by Damini Grover (2021) — all of which simply repeat "Aristotle" without any source citation, so they document circulation rather than origin. We did note one intriguing lead: a 2018 novelty journal credits the line to "Aristotle Onassis" (the shipping magnate) rather than the philosopher, but that too is an unsourced self-published product, not credible evidence of authorship, and we found no reliable record tying the words to Onassis, Mandela, or van Gogh either. Under our editorial policy, this absence of a primary source and the modern tone are not enough to call the quote misattributed, because we cannot name and cite a specific alternative author or a documented earlier appearance; what we have is heavy, uniform crediting to Aristotle with nothing beneath it.
