To get better from an emotional wound, you first need to understand and accept what is hurting you. Imagine you have a splinter in your finger. You can't feel better until you notice the splinter is there and then take it out. The same goes for emotional pain. If you've had a fight with a friend, for example, admitting that you're upset and figuring out why is the first step to feeling better. If you ignore the problem, it could get worse, just like if you ignore the splinter, the pain won't go away and might even get infected. By facing and understanding what's hurting you, you give yourself a chance to heal.
