Mary Shelley

Mary Shelley (1797-1851), an English novelist, is most famous for her Gothic novel "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus" (1818). This groundbreaking work, written when she was just 18, tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist who creates a sentient creature through unorthodox scientific experiments. Shelley's novel is a cornerstone of Gothic literature and early science fiction. In addition to "Frankenstein," she wrote "The Last Man" (1826), a poignant narrative set in a post-apocalyptic future.
