Stephen Chbosky

Stephen Chbosky, born January 25, 1970, is an American author, screenwriter, and director. He is best known for his 1999 novel "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," which achieved critical acclaim and became a modern classic in young adult literature. Chbosky also adapted and directed the 2012 film version of the novel, which garnered praise for its faithful representation of the source material and sensitive depiction of adolescent struggles. In addition to his work on "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," Chbosky co-wrote the screenplay for the 2005 film "Rent," based on the popular Broadway musical. He also directed the 2017 film "Wonder," adapted from R.J. Palacio's novel, which was well-received for its heartfelt storytelling and performances.
