Viktor E. Frankl (1905-1997) was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist, best known for founding logotherapy and existential analysis. His seminal work, "Man's Search for Meaning" (1946), details his experiences in Nazi concentration camps and introduces his psychological theory that the pursuit of meaning is a central human drive. Frankl received his MD and PhD from the University of Vienna in the 1930s. He published over 30 books, including "The Doctor and the Soul" (1946) and "The Will to Meaning" (1969). In 1985, Frankl received the Oskar Pfister Award for his contributions to the intersection of psychiatry and religion.
