Bil Keane

Bil Keane (October 5, 1922 – November 8, 2011) was an American cartoonist, best known for creating the long-running comic strip *The Family Circus*. The strip debuted on February 29, 1960, and quickly became a beloved feature in newspapers across the United States. Keane’s work stood out for its circular panel format, depicting the humorous and touching moments of family life. *The Family Circus* was syndicated in nearly 1,500 newspapers at its peak. Throughout his career, Keane received several accolades, including the National Cartoonists Society's Humor Comic Strip Award in 1982. In addition to his iconic strip, he also published several collections of his cartoons, ensuring that his humor reached a wide audience. Keane continued to contribute to the strip until his death in 2011.
