He is best known for leading the Continental Army to victory over British forces during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). Under his command, the army secured pivotal victories at the Battles of Trenton and Princeton in 1776. Washington also presided over the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which resulted in the drafting of the United States Constitution. As president, he established key precedents, including the formation of a Cabinet and the two-term limit.
