Groucho Marx, born Julius Henry Marx on October 2, 1890, in New York City, was an iconic American comedian and film star. He gained fame as a leading member of the Marx Brothers, a comedy troupe known for its rapid-fire wit and slapstick humor. Notable films include "Duck Soup" (1933) and "A Night at the Opera" (1935). Groucho's distinctive appearance featured a greasepaint mustache and eyebrows, round glasses, and a cigar.
In addition to his film career, Groucho found success on radio and television. He hosted the popular quiz show "You Bet Your Life" from 1947 to 1961, which showcased his improvisational skills and quick wit. Groucho Marx passed away on August 19, 1977, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and innovation in comedy.
