Henry Kissinger

Henry Kissinger, born May 27, 1923, in Fürth, Germany, is an American diplomat and political scientist who served as the 56th United States Secretary of State from 1973 to 1977 under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. Kissinger played a crucial role in U.S. foreign policy during the Cold War, notably orchestrating the opening of relations with the People's Republic of China in 1972. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 for his efforts in negotiating a ceasefire in the Vietnam War.
