Quote meaning
Dreams are funny things, aren’t they? When we’re kids, we might dream of becoming astronauts or famous actors. Our imaginations run wild with possibilities. But as we grow up, we start realizing that our dreams need to grow and evolve with us—just like we do. The core idea here is simple: the life you dreamt of when you were younger isn’t set in stone. It has to change and adapt as you change and evolve.

Let's talk a little about the context of this idea. Think back to the early 2000s, a time when the internet was just starting to boom. People had dreams that were somewhat rigid because they didn't have access to a lot of diverse information. Fast forward to today, and we have a world where information and opportunities are at our fingertips. The dreams we had back then might seem small or outdated compared to what we know now. And that’s perfectly okay.

Take my friend Sarah, for example. When she was in high school, she dreamt of becoming a marine biologist. She loved the ocean and everything in it. So, she went to college, got a degree in marine biology, and started working in the field. But after a few years, she realized that what she really loved was educating people about the ocean, not just studying it. So, she shifted gears and became a science communicator. Now, she travels around the world, giving talks and creating content to educate people about marine life. Her dream evolved as she did.

So, how can you apply this idea to your own life? Start by giving yourself permission to let your dreams change. If you’re feeling unfulfilled or stuck, don’t be afraid to reassess what you really want. Maybe you always wanted to be a lawyer, but after a few years, you find that your passion lies in writing. It’s okay to pivot. Your dreams should be flexible, not rigid.

Imagine you’re an artist. You’ve always dreamt of having your own gallery. You work hard, you get there, and it’s wonderful for a while. But then you find that curating other people’s work inspires you more than showcasing your own. You’re allowed to change your dream. You could shift towards becoming a curator or opening a collaborative space where artists can come together and share their work.

Think about your dreams as a living, breathing entity. They need to adapt to survive. Life throws a lot of surprises our way—some good, some not so much. Being open to change means you’re more prepared to handle whatever comes next.

So, take a moment and reflect. Are your dreams still aligning with who you are today? If not, it’s time to let them evolve. It’s not about giving up on your dreams; it’s about letting them grow with you. Your dream life should be a journey, not a destination. It’s supposed to be dynamic and ever-changing, just like you. Take a deep breath, embrace the change, and keep moving forward. After all, life’s too short to live someone else’s dream.
