Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was a British writer and scholar, best known for his series "The Chronicles of Narnia" (1950-1956). These fantasy novels, including "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," have become classics of children's literature. Lewis was also a prominent Christian apologist, with works like "Mere Christianity" (1952) and "The Screwtape Letters" (1942) exploring and defending the Christian faith. He taught at Oxford University for nearly three decades and later held the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University. His academic work, including "The Allegory of Love" (1936), remains influential in literary studies. Lewis died on November 22, 1963, the same day as the assassination of President John F.
