Biography
Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880) was a French novelist most famous for his work "Madame Bovary" (1857). This novel, which meticulously depicted the life and struggles of Emma Bovary, is often hailed as a seminal work of literary realism. Flaubert's commitment to stylistic perfection and detailed realism set him apart from his contemporaries.
In addition to "Madame Bovary," Flaubert wrote "Sentimental Education" (1869), which explores the romantic and social life of a young man during the French Revolution of 1848. Another notable work, "Salammbô" (1862), is a historical novel set in ancient Carthage, showcasing his versatility and depth of historical knowledge.
Flaubert died on May 8, 1880, in Croisset, France, leaving behind a legacy of literary excellence and precision.
