J.K. Rowling, born July 31, 1965, in Yate, England, is a British author best known for her Harry Potter series. The first book, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," was published in 1997 and quickly became a global sensation. The series, spanning seven books, concluded in 2007 and has sold over 500 million copies worldwide. Rowling's creation of the Wizarding World has expanded into successful film adaptations, theme parks, and merchandise. In 2001, she received the Hugo Award for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Additionally, she has written crime fiction under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, with the Cormoran Strike series beginning in 2013.
