Editorial Note
This line is very widely credited to Muhammad Ali across motivational writing, posters, and secondary references, but a search of his major published works—including *The Greatest: My Own Story* (with Richard Durham)—along with documented speech transcripts, recorded interviews, and biographical treatments such as Thomas Hauser's, turned up no primary source containing this exact phrasing. The aphorism does echo Ali's known philosophy of maximizing one's time, which likely explains why it became attached to his name, but that resemblance is not documentation. We also looked for evidence pointing to a stronger alternative author or an earlier appearance of this precise wording; while generic "make your days count" sentiments circulate broadly and are sometimes loosely linked to other figures, nothing rose to the level of a credible competing claim or positive evidence against Ali. With the attribution common but unsupported by any confirmed primary source—and no genuine authorship dispute established—the correct classification is attributed.
