Dante Alighieri

Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) was an Italian poet, writer, and philosopher, best known for his monumental epic poem, "The Divine Comedy." This work, composed of three parts—Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso—explores the realms of the afterlife and serves as an allegory for the soul's journey towards God. Written in the early 14th century, "The Divine Comedy" is a cornerstone of Italian literature and has significantly influenced Western literary tradition. Dante was born in Florence, Italy, in 1265. He also contributed to literary criticism and political theory through works like "De Monarchia," which discusses the relationship between the church and the state. Exiled from Florence in 1302 due to his political affiliations, Dante spent his remaining years in various Italian cities, including Verona and Ravenna, where he died in 1321.
