Virginia Woolf

Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), a seminal figure in 20th-century literature, is best known for her innovative narrative techniques and contributions to modernist fiction. Her landmark novels "Mrs. Dalloway" (1925) and "To the Lighthouse" (1927) employ stream-of-consciousness and shifting perspectives to explore the complexities of human consciousness and time. In 1917, she co-founded the Hogarth Press with her husband, Leonard Woolf, which published significant works by contemporary writers such as T.S. Eliot and Sigmund Freud. Woolf's essay "A Room of One's Own" (1929) is a foundational feminist text advocating for women's intellectual freedom and financial independence.
